Elephants, these admirable creatures, are the largest land mammals living on earth today. For the last 2-3 thousand years, the living space of elephants has been continuously decreasing, therefore these magnificent animals are classified as "highly endangered".
Our Lanka, the Asian elephant, which is one of the most endangered species today, has called Brijuni National Park its home for 50 years. Lanka arrived in Brijuni National Park in 1974, at the age of two. Therefore, this year, in 2022, Lanka celebrates 50 years.
Guided by this significant anniversary, on the island of Veliki Brijun from August 12 to 17 we will mark the WEEK OF ELEPHANTS, during which we will also celebrate Lanka's big 50th birthday. In addition to the regular ticket price, we have designed a diverse and convenient program, which visitors of all age groups will be able to enjoy.
On Friday and Saturday, August 12 and August 13, the boat departs from Fažana to the island of Veliki Brijun at 6:00 p.m. and the ticket price is HRK 50.00. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office in Fažana (Brionska 10) from 4 p.m. on the day of the event, without prior reservation. The return to Fažana is according to regular shipping lines.
On other days, with the regular ticket price, visitors can participate for free in the educational workshops "50 years of Lanka" and "World Elephant Day", which we want to raise awareness about Asian and African elephants.
