PROGRAM

The Good Story and In Search of the Noble Pen Shell

Before the screenings, two educational short documentary films will be shown: The Good Story and In Search of the Noble Pen Shell.

The Good Story

Fish stocks in the Mediterranean Sea have declined to alarmingly low levels; however, in one of its most heavily exploited areas, fish populations have started to recover. Thanks to the protection of just 1% of the Adriatic Sea, fish stocks and other vulnerable marine species have begun to regenerate.

Brijuni National Park proudly presents The Good Story, a film produced by MedReAct, which, through the experiences of fishermen, scientists, non-governmental organisations, and representatives of relevant institutions, shows how cooperation and effective marine area protection can lead to tangible results. This inspiring story about the Jabuka Pit highlights the importance of marine conservation and collective action in securing the future of marine ecosystems.

In Search of the Noble Pen Shell

This short video tells the story of the deployment of collectors within the boundaries of Brijuni National Park, an activity that has been continuously carried out for eight years with the aim of monitoring and conserving the noble pen shell.

The activity is part of the project “Conservation of the Noble Pen Shell in the Adriatic Sea”, in which Brijuni National Park is the main partner for the northern Adriatic region. Through this project, the Park implements a series of measures aimed at saving this critically endangered species.
