Yoga for our guests

Dive into the abundance of natural beauty of the Mediterranean Garden and master yoga poses

Enrich your experience of Brijuni Islands

Our yoga programme is an excellent opportunity for our guests to enrich their experience of Brijuni Islands. Dive into the abundance of natural beauty of the Mediterranean Garden, master yoga poses and take a break from your busy life at home. The flora and fauna of the islands are sure to take your breath away with their beauty and diversity, while the rich archaeological heritage perfectly complements this unique natural environment. With our programme guests can experience the serenity which has drawn visitors to the islands for centuries. A combination of yoga, exploring the nature and cultural heritage and resting is the perfect recipe for you to recharge both mentally and physically. Everyone is welcome to the yoga class, regardless of previous experience.

Relaxation and breathwork

Integral Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes are well rounded. Each class begins with introductory visualisation and relaxation, pranayama (breathwork), followed by a progressive sequence of asanas natural to the body, with special focus on the biomechanics and the body’s physical and subtle anatomy. We move through asanas progressively, opening the body step by step and preparing it to enter more deeply first the physical and then also a more subtle practise. Mudras and mantras are often used, and the whole practice ends with guided relaxation and mediation.

Taking into account both ours and the nature’s natural cycles, classes have different themes, intensities, rhythm and intention. In this way, breath by breath, and asana by asana, we achieve movement meditation and a natural harmony between our inner and outer worlds. This dynamic and exceptionally fluid style of yoga comes from Prana Vinyasa (Shiva Rea) and Ashtanga Vinyasa methods.

    • Yoga is held free of charge in the Mediterranean Garden.
    • The equipment for the yoga class is provided, it is not necessary to bring your own equipment.
    • More information and meeting point at the reception of Istria Neptun hotel 15 minutes earlier.

From July to September, yoga classes are held twice a week, Thursdays and Sundays 8:00-9:00.

The programme is run by Suzana Janković, a certified yoga teacher (E-RYT500, RPYT) and therapist who also organises trainings for Thai yoga massage, acupressure and abdominal massage. She is a founder of the Yoga Zanshin studio in Pula and the owner of the Thai Bodywork Zanshin sole proprietorship. For the last 28 years, she has been studying “Sanmitsu” or “the Three Mysteries” – the body, speech and mind through the practices such as Chi Kung, Kempo and Baguazhang martial arts, meditation, yoga and different approaches to Thai massage. She is a dedicated student of the Shingon school of Esoteric Buddhism under the guidance of the teacher Diego Hokai Sobol.

The Mediterranean Garden as a haven of serenity

The Brijuni Mediterranean Garden is a real attraction of the Brijuni National Park. The garden was founded in 2007 on the site of the former forest nursery and covers a surface area of 17,000 m2. At first, the forest nursery was used to manage and replant forests. Then, gradually, other types of perennials, trees and bushes also started to be grown in the nursery and some areas were used for research. The main purpose of creating this garden was to enrich the islands and create a representative garden which intertwines with the nature, culture and history of the national park.
