Dančea the loggerhead turtle arrived at the Safari Park

On July 4th 2022, the individual named Dančea arrived to the rehabilitation pool in Brijuni National Park. Dančea is a loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) found in the surface of the sea, floating in the area of Dubrovnik, on the section Boninovo – Danče, after which it got the name.

Dančea was not found with any external and internal injuries, although with inflamed eyes and malnourished. From there, Dančea was transfered to the recovery center in Aquarium Pula. After receiving the needed care by the professionals, for four months, Dančea recovered, managing to dive and starting to eat by itself. Now that Dančea’s condition is improving, in order to be released back into the wild, it is going to continue rehabilitation in the outdoor pool in Safari Park.
